On this tour you will discover the charming ambience of one of the best preserved medieval fortified towns in Europe and the world! You will walk the narrow streets of the Old Town, visit the museums and palaces, take great photos from the City walls and enjoy the musique and ambience of Dubrovnik by night.

At the same time, Dubrovnik region offers exciting hikes with stunning views to the mountains of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro as well as to the coast and the nearby islands.

This trip will also give you the chance to taste the highly appreciated wine of Peljesac region and also to meet the Old Town of Korcula, often called „little Dubrovnik“.

We will walk the trails that have been used by local people throughout the centuries of the free Dubrovnik Republic and we will meet the region’s cultural and etnological background.

Weather & seasonality
Croatia boasts one of the sunniest climates in Europe, and some regions are notoriously free from rain. We generally travel off-season, so you should expect some variation in temperature and possibly some rainfall. Temperatures can be high, particularly on the July departures and can reach the mid to high 30s (degC).

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Dubrovnik, Croatia

Arrival to Dubrovnik airport and transfer to hotel in Dubrovnik, where we stay for the duration of the trip. Overnight in hotel.

Day 2Dubrovnik

Morning guided tour of the Old town of Dubrovnik. In the afternoon, walk to the peak Srđ, to enjoy a bird’s eye view of Dubrovnik and its red tiled roofs.

Day 3Peak of Strazisce / Konavle

Today we climb to peak of Strazisce to enjoy spectacular views of Dubrovnik, the sea and the islands. The path we take is with aromatic herbs and wild flowers.

Day 4National park Mljet

A boat adventure to the tranquil island of Mljet and its national park. Walking paths follow the lakes shoreline and mountain trails lead to stunning view points that overlook the salty lakes of the national park.

Day 5Lake Geneva and Château de Chillon

It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.

Day 5Snjeznica (Snowy mountain)

Today we climb to Snjeznica (Snowy Mountain), the highest mountain of Dubrovnik region and the only mountain in the area on which snow lies each winter. Savour the charming view to the sea and islands from one side the mountains of Bosnia & Herzgevoina and Montenegro towards the innerlands.

Day 6Peljesac peninsula

Daily excursion to the peninsula of Peljesac. First we will take a leisurely walk on the slopes of St. Elias peak, rewarded by great views of the island of Korcula and its archipel. We will rest underneath the centuries old cypress trees and visit the Franciscan monastery, high above Orebic town. Later on, we will descent to Orebic to enjoy the ambience of this sailor’s town and then continue to one of the wine cellars of the peninsula, for a tasting of the highly appreciated Peljesac wines Postup & Dingač.

Day 7Elaphiti islands – Kolocep

On our last day of the hiking program, we will take a leisurely walk on the beautiful island of Kolocep, a part of the Dubrovnik archipelago – Elaphiti. A tranquil and verdant oasis, just a 30min boat drive from Dubrovnik will relax our senses and let us dive into the Mediterranean spirit one more time. Possibility of swimming in the clear blue Adriatis sea, on one of the serene island beaches.
